A bus driver accused of careless driving causing the death of an 18-year-old woman has had his case delayed by at least two months over a mechanical report.

Tia Cameron was struck by a Brisbane council bus while walking on a footpath in the city’s central business district on March 8, 2024.

Cameron, an administration worker, was pinned against a wall and died at the scene, while four bus passengers were treated for minor injuries.

Council bus driver Lindsay Francis Selby, 70, was months later charged with driving without due care and attention causing death.

Selby was not required to appear in person when his charges were mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Cameron’s father, Alastair, attended court in the public gallery.

Defence solicitor Claire McGee told Magistrate Ross Mack she had not been given a full forensic report’s “assessments related to the mechanics of the bus”.

“I do have part of a report. The report I requested prior to the first mention, the substance of it has not yet been received,” McGee said.
